چکیده

The total alkaline phosphatase levels were determined in 118 patients with adult coeliac disease, 65 of whom had evidence of osteomalacia. The secretor and blood group status, intestinal isoenzyme, and liver alkaline phosphatase played no significant part in the levels of serum alkaline phosphatase found. There was a significant correlation between the levels of serum alkaline phosphatase and the presence of osteomalacia.

Alkaline phosphatase synthesis and properties of subcellular organelles during in vitro culture of jejunal biopsies from control subjects and patients with coeliac disease.

Portions of jejunal biopsies from control subjects and from patients with coeliac disease were cultured for 24 hours using an in vitro organ culture technique. Alkaline phosphatase activity was measured in the tissue and medium before and after culture; enzyme activities were expressed per microgram tissue DNA. The increase in enzyme activity during the culture period was taken to represent net...

The levels of Serum Alkaline Phosphatase and Lactate Dehydrogenase in Hodgkin Lymphoma

Background: Hodgkin’s disease (HD) is a neoplastic disease originating in lymphoid tissue, which spreads to lymphoid structures and ultimately nonlymphoid tissues. Lactate Dehydrogenase and Alkaline Phosphatase are increased in blood following membrane cell damage. The aim of this study was to compare Lactate Dehydrogenase and Alkaline Phosphatase levels in children in different stages of Hodg...

Intestinal lactase, sucrase, and alkaline phosphatase in 373 patients with coeliac disease.

Lactase, sucrase, and alkaline phosphatase activities were measured in 833 peroral small intestinal biopsies from 373 patients with coeliac disease. Enzyme activities decreased with increasing degrees of mucosal damage. Enzyme activities in mucosae of patients with coeliac disease in remission were lower than in control groups matched for age, sex, and site of biopsy. Enzyme activities were mea...

Coeliac disease: clinical presentations, correlations of dietary compliance, symptomatic response and repeat biopsy findings.

Gastrointestinal symptoms were present at the time of diagnosis in 81 (76%) of 107 patients with coeliac disease: 56% had diarrhoea/steatorrhoea, 32.7% abdominal pain and 15% constipation. Gastrointestinal symptoms were commonest in young adults (20-39 years) and less frequent in children (0-19 years). Anaemia, low serum levels of folic acid, albumin and calcium, and raised serum alkaline phosp...

In vitro diagnosis of coeliac disease: an assessment.

Jejunal biopsies from controls and coeliac patients were maintained in organ culture for up to 48 hours. The in vitro effect of gluten fraction III during the period of culture was assessed by measurement of the activity of the brush border enzymes alkaline phosphatase and alpha-glucosidase. Mucosa from controls and treated and untreated coeliacs behaved similarly and no reproducible in vitro e...
